Syd Shores Art: Face of Fear! - 1969

The following features the wonderful, detailed art of Golden Age great, Syd Shores; with a cool story by Archie Goodwin. The Face of Fear comes from Marvel's Chamber of Darkness No. 2, December 1969.

  1. It occurs to me that this is the same basic story as "Room For One More" from the classic "Twilight Zone" where a woman dreams of a nurse inviting her into the morgue. However, as she's about to board a plane, the steward says "Step right up honey, there's room for one more" and freaks her out. She runs away, and the plane crashes on take-off, killing all on board...except she wasn't.

  3. A good if not a bit over-used story from Goodwin, though it's hits you over the head a bit with the moral. The art's great, it's really kinetic and the grave digger character is a good visual.
